1.     a person who seeks to convert others to the Christian faith, especially by public preaching.

 

Also called by man - -preacher, missionary, gospeler, recruiter,  crusader;

informal - 'Bible-thumper'

o    2)  A  zealous advocate of something.

  The work of the Grace Period evangelist is the proclamation of the rightly divided word of God,  in its accuracy, integrity and simplicity free from man made religiosity  -  to those who have not known them, rather than the instruction and pastoral care of those who have believed and received the Holy Spirit in them. It follows also that the name denotes a work rather than an order . simularly like the word missionary.      

The apostles -

Acts 8:25; And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

Acts 14:7; And there they preached the gospel

1 Corinthians 1:17) For Christ sent me (The Apostel Paul) not to (water) baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

Matthew 10:8 - "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
